Welcome to Reading British Sub-Aqua Club

Reading British Sub-Aqua Club was formed in 1953 and we are the oldest branch in the Reading area and registered as club number 0028 of the British Sub-Aqua Club.

We are a non-profit making dive club, run by members for the members. Qualified divers and beginners alike are welcome to become members. Qualified divers can join us on our regular diving expeditions, whilst beginners can enrol on one of the frequent initial qualification Ocean Diver courses.

If you want to give Scuba Diving a go or get back into it, please contact us – It would be lovely to hear from you.

Book a Try Dive

If you have always wanted to learn to dive or are simply curious about scuba diving, then a Try Dive with Reading BSAC is the perfect introduction!

In the safe confines of the pool, a BSAC Instructor will introduce you to the basic skills and equipment needed to experience the thrill of breathing underwater for the very first time. Try Dives cost £30 for 16yr and older, £20 if under 15.

A typical Try Dive session lasts about 45 minutes. It involves poolside tuition on diving techniques and equipment, followed by a scuba dive in our pool with a BSAC-qualified instructor.

  • Run by experienced BSAC-qualified instructors
  • Help save time and money by trying scuba first
  • A great experience that could be the start of something amazing
  • All scuba equipment included

What our members say...

Reading BSAC has been a great place to learn to dive. The club has been very welcoming and has allowed me to travel the UK on some amazing diving trips. The club have many experienced divers who provide a lot of support and guidance to help build new divers confidence and skills.

I’ve really enjoyed learning to dive to with RBSAC, everyone has been very generous with their time and knowledge. The club atmosphere is really good to develop your diving and make friends.

Since I joined Reading BSAC pretty much everything about the club has changed. There were only 3 or 4 female divers and at times it was hard work getting the men to take me seriously. Within 5 years I was an Advanced Diver and Open Water Instructor through dogged determination and hard work. Progressing to Advanced Instructor and Diving Officer. Training these days is much more user friendly. Lectures are modular and can be done on-line or face to face and after a few pool sessions you can be taken to safe , confined water for further instruction. After all, it's getting under the water that we all want to do , isn't it? Reading BSAC offers a safe friendly environment for everyone to be able to follow their dreams and become a competent, safe Diver and dive all times of year (or not) and BSAC qualifications are recognised world wide. The world is your oyster. Go out and have fun. I do after nearly 40 years.

Reading BSAC is very welcoming club with good facilities. I’ve joined the club on many trips across the UK and abroad. When I am not on a trip it’s nice to catch up with club members at the club house for a drink.

I became hooked on SCUBA diving whilst holidaying in Turkey and completing my PADI Open Water training. Sitting in Antalya airport on the way home, I started researching UK diving and very quickly discovered the amazing potential the UK coast offers… I joined Reading BSAC, transferred over from PADI and continued my training whilst gaining some amazing experiences and friendships along the way. Fast forward a few years and I now actively organise diving trips and also instruct new and developing divers to build confidence and skills.
