The club ran a basic life support (BLS) refresher on Tuesday 8 March with the help of club member Neil Knight and friend of his who is a community first responder.

It was a great opportunity for club members to run through the current BLS recommendations, get some hands-on skills practice on the Resusci Annies, test out assembling our oxygen kits and and get to train with AEDs. (AED is short for automated external defibrillator – a lightweight, portable device that delivers an electric shock through the chest to the heart. The shock can stop an irregular heart rhythm and allow a normal rhythm to resume following sudden cardiac arrest.)

Thanks to everyone who took part – it is to the benefit of everyone in an emergency if we are confident and comfortable in these areas.
