Diving in Cornwall

As we drove down to the Lizard through the usual bank holiday traffic, I reflected that it had been about 4 years since I had last done any Easter diving. I was looking forward to the variety of sites present, although I would miss the opportunity to dive out of Lamorna Cove since the sea […]

Best of British Diving – Plymouth 2016

The bank holiday weekend diving in Plymouth in my opinion represented the whole spectrum of everything that diving in the UK has to offer. As a start, a big thank you should go to Colin who managed and organised everything expertly and additional thanks should go to those towing the boats.

The Mount Batten Centre was […]

Wrecks, reefs and a lollipop – a weekend of diving in Brighton

A group of us headed down to Brighton on Friday 12 August for a weekend of firsts: first time the club has used AirBnB for accommodation; first time diving with hard boat charter Defiance; first time finding ourselves 450 feet up in a futuristic glass viewing pod, enjoying bird’s eye views of Brighton and beyond.

Easter diving (or not) in Cornwall

Our cheerful group of Easter divers gathered in Cornwall on a bright sunny Friday. We stayed in the Sea Acres caravan park, in three comfortable caravans. John’s caravan was the epicentre of instructions, Colin’s had the wonderful benefit of the porridge-meistress Liz, and Neil’s kept a secret bottle of whiskey or two.

Unfortunately, British weather decided […]

Dolphins and dancing lobsters – Plymouth October 2015

We had chartered Maid Maggie II for our weekend trip and I felt that we were quite lucky to have made it to the coast as there had been rather too much wind in the run up to the weekend. In the marina on Friday night I was asked for flat, calm water, great visibility, […]

Seven of our party, with the Cormorant and the Tornado, on the Brittany Ferries ship “Barfleur” to Cherbourg and three of us on the Condor Ferries trimaran “Liberation” to […]

Portland trip

Report by Steve Merrick

Divers: Colin, Emma, Steve, Sean, Iona and Nic. (Gareth as boat handler)

The day started out lovely, with blue skies, sunshine and calm seas (Always seems to happen when Nic/Iona are along – must be French luck or bringing the weather from across the channel for us).

Dive 1 was the Lulworth banks – […]

Scillies July 2014

Once again Reading BSAC set sail for a week’s diving from St Martin’s in the Scilly Isles, under the guidance of Tim Allsop on his boat Morvoren.

Various start routes from Reading were undertaken, some starting on time some a little later than planned!! This was thanks to Debbie who picking up Ian after working in […]

West Bay – July 2013

by Colin Matthews

Initially we had been planning a trip to Salcombe, but time limitations meant that the longer journey there and back was going to be tricky so with the weather looking great for diving the decision was made to head to West Bay.

This was our second trip there this year, the first one in […]

Sark 2012

by Nigel Howard

Saturday 26 May
The weather was looking fantastic, with not a cloud in the sky and a calm sea. The crossing was smooth and our skipper, Andy Leaman, picked us up from St. Peter Port, Guernsey, on his boat, Starfish of Sark. Most of the rest of the afternoon was then spent sitting in […]
