There are only a few boxes you need to tick before embarking on the Ocean Diver course. You need to be:

  • in good health
  • a reasonable swimmer
  • over 16
  • over 14 if accompanied through your training with a parent

The course is split into a number of different elements:

Sheltered water lessons – most of these lessons will take place in the comfort and safety of the Kendrick School swimming pool. The lessons will cover basic diving skills such as buoyancy and mask clearing.

Classroom lessons – these sessions will cover the theory of diving – from the effects of pressure on the body to how to plan a dive and more.

Open water lessons – this is where you get to experience your first dives in open water and put into practice the skills and knowledge you have learnt in the classroom and sheltered water sessions.

By training with our club you get to:

  • Be taught by our experienced instructors with a wealth of diving and training knowledge
  • Learn in small groups
  • Share your experience with other trainees and club members
  • Take the training at a pace that suits you and your learning style
  • Go diving with a warm and friendly club.

As a newly qualified diver, you can dive to 20 metres and continue on through BSAC’s diver grades and learn new specialist diving skills.

With BSACs Ocean Diver, your sub-aqua adventure is just beginning!
